About PullVin
Our Mission
PullVin exists to make vehicle safety data accessible to everyone. Every year, tens of millions of Americans drive vehicles with open safety recalls — often without knowing it. We believe that information asymmetry costs lives.
By aggregating data directly from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and presenting it in a clear, searchable format, PullVin helps you make informed decisions about the vehicles you drive and buy.
What We Provide
- Recall History: Every safety recall ever issued by NHTSA, with component details, consequences, and remedies.
- Owner Complaints: Millions of complaints filed directly with NHTSA, searchable by make, model, year, and component.
- Safety Scores: Our composite 0–100 score combines recalls, complaints, and NCAP crash test ratings.
- VIN Decoder: Enter a 17-digit VIN to instantly identify a vehicle and pull its full safety history.
- Rankings: Compare safety across makes and models to find the safest vehicles in any segment.
Data Sources
All recall and complaint data comes from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a division of the U.S. Department of Transportation. NCAP crash test ratings are also sourced from NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program. VIN decoding uses the NHTSA vPIC (Vehicle Product Information Catalog) API.
PullVin does not create or modify this data. We index, clean, and present it in a more accessible format.
